Immune Modulation Studies - Activated Splenocyte Cell Analysis in Vitro
This is a very sensitive assay well suited for the identification of putative immune modulating compounds. In short, the spleens of mice are sensitized over the course of several weeks following multiple challenges with an immunogen of choice (Ovalbumin is commonly used). The spleens of sensitized mice are then recovered and used to generate activated splenocyte cell cultures. The activated splenocyte cell cultures are then used to gauge the immune modulating capabilities of various test articles, versus an internal control, by monitoring modulations in the the profiles of "diagnostic" compounds (for example, cytokines) produced by and secreted into the medium by the splenocyte cells.Drug Testing In Vitro/In Vivo
